The Gunports
Structure
The Gunports are a loosely knit resistance force and independence movement, largely consisting of local cells without much connection to other local cells for safety reasons. The individual cells all have some sort of contact with the Central Cell, consisting of an unknown number of individuals lightly coordinating attacks and actions against the occupating force. These leaders location and identity remains largely unknown to the local cells, utilizing sophisticated magical tools to communicate orders and news.
Culture
Outwards normal people of civil society, the men and women of the Gunports are fierce opponents to the Osnary occupation, and hold a strong aversion against any attempt by the authorities to impose their rules on the Kilbarrian people.
Public Agenda
The common belief of the Gunports is that the ultimate destiny for Kilbarrow is one free of occupation and with independence. The large majority also want to see the reintroduction of the Drugain clan on the throne.
History
When Kilbarrow fell, the vast majority of the army was disbanded by the Osnary occupiers, with many of the members mutilated or marked in order to root out potential troublemakers. The soldiers that escaped this fate banded together before splitting up permanently and agreed on continued resistance and the creation of an organization in their respective communities to facilitate this movement, bringing with them their arms and armor. The result was the Gunports, named for the historic significance of Kilbarrian seafaring and the likeness of the Gunport hiding a violent tool behind a thin surface.
This resistance was centrally led by an ex-officer of Kilbarrian army, who had lost both his hands as a consequence of his position by the Osnary occupiers. He was the first Central Cell.
The Gunports tried and failed at locating Brendan XI and his family, owing to the visage of the King being unknown to most, and the Osnary dedication to the humiliation of Brendans descent to a commoner to be as enveloping as possible.
Throughout the years, the strength of the Gunports has waned and waxed. Large orders from the Osnarian Quintarchy, robbing the Kilbarrian of rights, often lead to strong resistance and intricate Gunport operations in Kilbarrow and abroad targeted at the occupiers, only to fade out due to Osnary arrests and executions, as well as the hopelessness in the population setting in.
The recent years has been a low point of the Gunports. While a large restriction was once again placed, the Kilbarrians seem to have lost their will to fight, and the ones that did was almost all found out and executed on the town squares. Rumors are abound among the survivors that the Central Cell has been compromised, and that the Gunports is a lost cause. No public actions have been committed for a year, and a week ago the Osnary authorities triumphantly declared a major stronghold of the resistance eradicated.
