Session 8: Wrapping Things Up

General Summary

After defeating the cultist that the party found in the hidden room underneath the warehouse belonging to the mysterious Johnny. Vexna was quick to make sure that the two still living cultists, Simeon and Toby Summerstride, were stabilized. Vexna and Madame Jeanne, who was still disguised as the royal agent Marcus, went back up to the warehouse in order to alert and wait for the town guards. Vexna also took the time to use her ability to detect evil on the guards that entered. In the meantime, Varinel, Yujin and Thylius freed the captured Wilfrick and Jordan Gwenstock, the missing tailor. Thylius also managed to find a chest filled with letters that he took with him. Yujin took it upon himself to help Wilfrick get back to the tavern, whilst Varinel helped Jordan back to his home. The guards shortly arrived and took the cultists and the body of Argus.
Vexna, Jeanne (as Marcus) and Thylius decided to pay the Mayor a visit and tell him all that had happened. The stunned mayor promised them that he would take care of things and asked them to return in the morning. They then returned to the tavern, where they where met by the sight of Yujin hanging out with Jork, the Jötunfolk, as well as Wilfrick. Vexna goes to her room with a tired Jennie. Meanwhile, Varinel spends the night with Jordan Gwenstock. Before going to bed the Thylius drinks an experimental potion.
The next morning, everyone wakes up to the commotion of Thylius having grown another left-arm. When they had all calmed down, they went down to get breakfast. After a while Varinel joined them, looking a bit more happy than usual. They decided to go see the mayor before deciding what to do next, although they had already decided that this would be the last day they spent in Honeyport. Vexna, Jeanne (once again disguised as Marcus), Thylius leave to meet with the mayor again. They also manage to figure out, after reading the letters, that all the supposed witches were all noble in some capacity. Even Jennie, whose father was knighted a mere day before his death.
When they arrived at the town hall they were met by the remains of the town council. The mayor, Frickard, Roberto Summerstride and Thomas Roundlog. They tell the party about how they plan to proceed with this situation. Vexna told them about the witches' noble connections and the council decided to send Frickrd to the capital to try and explain the situation in order to avoid hostilities between Honeyport and the noble families. He then offers to take the party with him on his ship, which they eventually accept. The party is also told that Delric Glimmeron was being appointed the new captain of the town guard. Just as the party is about to leave, Jonathan orders the guards to fetch a chest that was found among Simeon's possesions. It was filled with gold. Jonathan offers it as a reward to the party, which they accept.
Vexna and Jeanne brought the chest to the tavern where they regrouped with Varinel and Yujin, before going to talk with Simeon and Toby. Thylius instead accompanied Thomas to his workshop where they met Jork. The two of them fetched the wagons that the party had ordered. Varinel, Vexna, Jeanne and Yujin went to the barracks where they were met by Delric who took them to the dungeon, where they got to talk to Simeon. He told them about how he didn't remember why he did what he did, but he didn't deny what he did as he still remembered everything. Both he and Toby seemed genuinely regretful as far as the party could tell. Simeon also talked about a blank white face with big, black, blank eyes. A face that was theorized by the party to belong to the shapechanging Johnny.
Later that afternoon the party, accompanied by the halfling Wilfrick, left Honeyport behind and boarded a ship bound for the capital of Freywharf. After a whole day at sea the group arrives.
