Behemoth

The Silent Sire

Behemoth is the first dragon, the silent god of balance, patience, and primal sovereignty. Born from the tears of Ilyth at the dawn of creation, he sired all dragonkind and shaped the nature of their being before retreating into long silence. Though few worship him directly, and many believe him dead or dreaming, Behemoth remains a figure of awe and reverence, a cosmic force whose breath still stirs the winds of fate. Dragons may kneel to Abzu or Tiamat, but it was Behemoth who gave them form.

Appearance

Behemoth is rarely depicted in full, for his form is too vast and ancient to behold. In myth, he is a dragon of impossible scale, coiled in slumber beneath the roots of the world, his scales formed of molten stone and starlight. His eyes are closed, yet all dragons dream of them. Some say he has no mouth, for he spoke the world into being once, and never again. Others claim that every volcanic tremor or shifting tectonic plate is his breath, slow and eternal.

Dogma

Behemoth does not teach in scripture or voice. His dogma is silence, balance, and legacy. His worshippers believe that true strength is not in dominance, but in presence. To exist so fully that the world bends around you. He embodies the stillness before the storm, the restraint of power so absolute that it no longer needs to act. His silence is not absence, but comprehension beyond words. Those who serve him meditate in quiet places, listening to the world rather than trying to change it. They believe that Behemoth dreams the world, and that to awaken him would end all things, not in fury, but in fulfillment.

Worship

Worship of Behemoth is rare, but deeply reverent. His followers do not preach, nor do they raise temples. Instead, they gather at volcanic peaks, deep caves, or windswept mountains where the world feels thick with breath. Their rites are silent vigils, acts of patient endurance, and dream-interpretation. It is said Behemoth speaks only through dreams, and even then only in symbol and instinct. His sacred time is The Quiet Solstice, observed when the longest night passes without moonlight. During this time, followers gather in stillness, believing the veil between Behemoth’s dreams and the waking world grows thin. Some dragons, especially older and more philosophical broods, attend in secret.

Relations

The Silent Sire is the progenitor of Abzu and Tiamat, and through them, all other dragons. Abzu was born of Behemoths breath, and Tiamat from his scales. Though he does not interfere in their divine conflict, both acknowledge him as their sire. Abzu reveres him as origin and ideal. Tiamat denies him, yet mimics him in ambition. Among the Old Gods, Behemoth is respected as the last witness of the world’s birth, and perhaps the only one who will remain to see its end. It is whispered among some that Orun, the god of discipline and cosmic understanding, is the only being who has ever truly heard Behemoth speak, and that what was spoken has not yet come to pass.
