The Founders' Halls

The Founders' Halls are the, now much expanded, residences of the first elves to settle in the forest. They extend over a great deal of land including some meticulously kept gardens, all lit with dozens of magic lights and marble statues. The halls themselves are resplendent, delicate marble archways and columns topped with gold and precious jewels are an incredibly display of wealth.
Should one stop and take a second look the illusion begins to fade. The marble is chipped, some of the gold and jewels missing to leave the building non-symmetrical, and parts of the garden overgrown or bare. A lot of energy has gone into trying to maintain a façade of opulence, but it's clear to the careful observer that this place no longer holds the riches it once did.
As far as the residents are concerned nobody sees the majority of them anymore, other than housekeepers and gardeners. They seems to have withdrawn from society almost entirely.
