Soldier
Steel-shod boots tread across broken ground, banners snap in the wind, and the soldier keeps their eyes forward. Not for glory, not always for belief—but because someone has to hold the line. In their pack are letters never sent, keepsakes from homes that may not exist anymore. In their heart: discipline and doubt, courage and fear, braided like cords in a worn-out grip. A soldier is not just a warrior—they are war’s instrument, sharpened by command, dulled by repetition, and dangerous until the final order comes.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Soldiers thrive in organized military environments—fortresses, garrisons, field camps, and war-torn frontlines. Unlike guardsmen who defend the familiar, soldiers are sent away from home, often deployed to contested borders, occupied cities, or battlefields far from civilization. Their presence marks the projection of a nation’s will—Stormreach’s regiments march in iron formation, while Atheria’s war-mages embed soldiers alongside arcane artillery. Even in wilderness campaigns, soldiers carve out temporary shelters with martial efficiency, turning wild ground into a temporary domain of order.
Behaviour
A soldier's mind is shaped by structure: commands given, commands followed. They wake, train, eat, march, and fight on schedule. Trained in unit tactics and drilled for resilience, soldiers are dangerous not because of personal strength, but because of their cohesion. When not on duty, soldiers form tight-knit social circles, often based on shared units, campaigns, or origins. War hardens some and breaks others—but all soldiers learn quickly to rely on those beside them. Some grow numb to killing; others carry the weight of every command they follow.
