Personal history

Born in the illustrious city of Arcanum Haven, a magical jewel in Atheria's crown, Moremon was raised amidst the brilliance of arcane lore and the serenity of scholarly pursuits. His tiefling heritage, with its infernal roots, was often a subject of whispered curiosity in the city, but Moremon's keen intellect and charm soon made him a respected member of Atherian society. His affinity for elemental magic and his unique ability to decipher ancient runes earned him a prestigious place among the city's scholars.   Driven by his insatiable curiosity, Moremon embarked on an academic journey to the dwarven settlements east of Stormreach, intrigued by their mastery of metallurgy and the enchanted ores they unearthed. He hoped to uncover secrets that could bridge Atherian magical practices with dwarven craftsmanship, potentially revolutionizing both fields. However, his timing was ill-fated.   While Moremon was exploring the mines, tensions between Atheria and Stormreach escalated into open conflict. A dwarven ally of Stormreach, wary of Atherian scholars gaining insight into their trade, tipped off Stormreach's military about Moremon’s presence. He was apprehended as a potential spy, though his protests of neutrality and scholarly intent fell on deaf ears.   Dragged to the heart of Stormreach as a prisoner of war, Moremon was fitted with an explosive collar, a grim device symbolizing both his captivity and the utter control Stormreach sought to impose on its enemies. The collar not only kept him in check but served as a constant reminder of the precariousness of his life.   Moremon’s fate took a darker turn when he was assigned as the personal servant of Tressa Halvren, the austere and politically shrewd imperial governor sent to oversee River's Edge. Tressa, recognizing Moremon’s brilliance, exploits his magical talents and forces him to perform menial tasks, magical labor, and even espionage on her behalf. While he outwardly complies, Moremon’s mind churns with resentment and determination.   Despite his circumstances, Moremon remains a man of principles. He despises violence and clings to the hope that one day he will reclaim his freedom and return to Atheria, where he can once again lose himself in the pursuit of knowledge. The challenge lies not only in escaping his physical captivity but also in preserving his dignity and his soul in the face of unrelenting oppression.
