Forest Drake
Beneath the canopy's shadows, the Forest Drake moves like a green phantom, scales blending seamlessly with moss and leaf. Many who traverse the deep woods speak of a whispering hiss, or a flash of emerald in the corner of their vision—only to vanish as swiftly as it appeared. Rumors suggest these drakes can charm the woodland to aid their hunt, and some travelers leave small offerings at the forest’s edge in the hope of avoiding their hungry gaze. For those who disregard the warnings, the Forest Drake’s sudden strike is often the last they see.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Forest Drakes thrive in lush woodlands and dense, untouched forests where tall trees and thick underbrush provide natural camouflage. These creatures favor environments rich in natural resources, where they can blend into the surroundings and easily ambush prey. They are often found near hillsides or hidden groves where they create lairs shielded from human view. Forest Drakes adapt quickly to the natural terrain, using their surroundings to craft both a protective hideout and a vantage point from which they survey their territory.
Behaviour
Forest Drakes are cunning and opportunistic hunters, preferring ambush tactics over direct confrontation. They use their mastery of stealth to lie in wait, often positioning themselves high in the trees or along ridges where they can leap upon unsuspecting prey. Forest Drakes are fiercely territorial and will defend their chosen domain with aggression, targeting both intruding creatures and other predators. Their venomous bite and acidic breath make them deadly adversaries. Unlike larger dragons, Forest Drakes don’t hoard treasure, but they may collect small trinkets or shiny objects from their prey, which they stow in makeshift nests.
