Centaur
The rhythmic thunder of hooves echoes through the valley before the figures emerge—tall, powerful beings, their forms half-man, half-horse, draped in leather and adorned with beads and feathers. Their bows, strung with sinew, glint in the sunlight as sharp eyes study the intruders. One steps forward, his voice steady as the wind that sweeps across the plains. “You tread upon sacred ground, stranger. Speak your purpose, or turn back with the setting sun.”
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Centaurs roam the vast open plains, rolling hills, and ancient woodlands, thriving in regions where they can gallop freely without obstruction. Their tribes are most commonly found in temperate grasslands and lightly forested regions, where they establish semi-nomadic camps, following the migration of game and the cycles of nature. They have a deep spiritual connection to the land, often considering themselves its guardians and caretakers, marking sacred groves and ancestral sites with carvings and totems. Some centaur clans prefer the edges of civilization, trading with frontier settlements while avoiding the conflicts of expanding empires.
Behaviour
Proud and fiercely independent, centaurs value freedom, honor, and tradition above all else. They live in tight-knit clans, each ruled by a chieftain and a shaman who guides them with the wisdom of the stars and the whispers of the wind. Though they prefer peace, centaurs are skilled warriors, using speed and precision to overwhelm foes with swift, coordinated strikes. They hold oral traditions in high regard, passing down songs and stories that recount the deeds of their ancestors. While some centaurs are wary of outsiders, those who earn their trust find them to be loyal allies and steadfast companions.
