Barbazu
The air grows heavy with the stench of sulfur and the coppery tang of blood. Emerging from the shadows, a Barbazu strides forward, its glaive glinting with an unholy light. The tendrils of its beard writhe like living snakes, dripping venom that sizzles upon the ground. Its eyes burn with malice and unwavering focus, locked onto its next victim. As the fiend’s guttural growl reverberates, you understand why it is said that a Barbazu's very presence is enough to sap the courage of even the most steadfast warrior.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
Barbazu, also known as Bearded Devils, dwell primarily in the fiery, oppressive layers of the Nine Hells, where their role as shock troops in infernal armies keeps them close to centers of conflict. They are often found patrolling the fortresses of archdevils or marching through barren wastelands of ash and brimstone. On the Material Plane, they are summoned to war zones or desolate ruins by mortals foolish or desperate enough to seek their aid, where they thrive in the chaos of battle.
Behaviour
Barbazu are fiercely disciplined but undeniably bloodthirsty, combining military precision with savage ferocity. They are loyal to their infernal superiors, executing commands with ruthless efficiency. In battle, they revel in carnage, using their wicked glaives and venomous beard tendrils to tear into foes. While single-minded in combat, they are cunning strategists, capable of outmaneuvering opponents to maximize slaughter. When not actively fighting, they are unsettlingly quiet, standing vigil or sharpening their weapons in grim anticipation of the next conflict.
