The Time of the Sisters A prequel setting to The Infinite Corridor.

During the second half of the twenty-first century, humanity finally reached beyond their home world in a meaningful way. Powered by practical and portable fusion power, the spaceships of Earth built, in order, the domes of Luna, the caves of Mars, the warrens of Ganymede, and the great roving tracked city-ships of Titan's shallow hydrocarbon seas. Near the end of this era the Corporation even began the terraforming of Venus, although this, like so much else, ended with the Grievings. Nations and states alike dissolved into the absolute dominance of The Corporation, and in later decades the status of Employee replaced, in every practical sense, the former concept of Citizen. Originally, the dissolution of national governments and merging of all economic entities into The Corporation was imagined to be the beginning of a new golden age, and for a short time it seemed this would be the case. Human nature, however, proved far more resistant to change than the optimistic views of many. By the 2070's it had become clear to nearly everyone that all of humanity was now living under the boot heel of tyranny. While most lived entirely normal lives, and few truly understood what had been lost, when the Grievings began in 2095 it became impossible to ignore. After the reconstructions of 2135-2140, humanity had returned to a state of disparity not seen in 5 centuries. It was against this backdrop, in 2142, that the first Echoes began, and the Time of the Sisters truly reached an end.
