Spearhorned Treeking
A demonic beast that lives on the edges of rivers in the Demon Realm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A large quadrupedal rodent with long ears and a single spiral horn on its forehead. It has a thin tail with a tuft of fur at the end and grows a beard. The fur around its leg joints is particularly thick, and the paws beneath lack any fur.
Biological Traits
Female treekings tend to be a foot or so bigger than males, with a second smaller horn under the first horn. They also have short tusks.
Genetics and Reproduction
Treekings reproduce sexually, with a gestation period of three years.
Growth Rate & Stages
Treekings reach adult size at fifteen years, and sexual maturity at thirty.
Ecology and Habitats
Treekings live within copses of trees that grow along the edges of rivers.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Treekings are one of the few herbivores of the Demon Realm, surviving off the fruit of the trees they make home and aquatic plantlife.
Behaviour
Treekings maintain an odd position - due to the difficulty of defending against a single horn, most predators avoid them. Since they aggressively defend the trees they make home, they are not the targets of plant predation either. As such, they are one of the only wild animals in the Demon Realm that are safe to be approached in a peaceful manner.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Treekings live in small family groups, typically of one female to four or five males. These groups make up larger loose colonies of twenty to thirty total treekings.
Domestication
With the advent of animal husbandry, treekings have been domesticated to act as guards for herds of livestock. Domesticated treekings tend to have shorter horns than their wild counterparts.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Treekings have an excellent sense of smell.
Lifespan
500 years
Average Height
4-5ft
