Welcome to the Thilovell Dynasty
This is a time of civil unrest.
There is a divide within the Thilovell Dynasty. The Emerald Enclave, the ruling government party, has welcomed in countless refugees from the Skeggar Isles. While there was minor opposition to these immigrants initially, those fears mostly died in time. The Gnomes provided many advancements to infrastructure, determined not to be a burden to their new society. Soon airships and rail carriages began to take over, causing drastic changes everywhere. Elves, due to their longevity, progress slowly and rely on their elite alone to make decisions about the future of the Dynasty. These elite are now being granted plenty to invest in, but many fear they have lost sight of the damages this will cause. Some even worry that they have forgotten the great beauty of Yggdrasil, the World Tree that has given the elves their prosperity all these years. Smaller villages and even some towns too far from the Capital of Silserion are being forgotten, their needs neglected. Taxes of coin and grain are still being funnelled in, but the reciprocation that those settlements relied on has slowed drastically. Some nobility, resistant to this change, have done all they can to keep the Dynasty alive. As a new party forms and the Emerald Enclave is beginning to see their centuries-long reign come to an end, however, dread is brewing that even this aid will falter, soon. You begin your journey in the town of Rootsreach, the closest of all the Dynasty's settlements to Yggdrasil. Ruled by a stubborn Baron, Ellisar Oardess, this place has refused to falter under the pressure of the changing government. The effects are being seen, however. The town's economy still lives, but it is failing. Adventurers have stopped using it as a haven just outside the treacherous woods surrounding Yggdrasil. Along with this, something has caused the Rootsreach Marshes to begin expanding rapidly, destroying entire farms in just months. You are here for various reasons, either by summons or by chance. Regardless of how you arrived, you must call this place home for some time, for moving is dangerous and costly. Whether you will leave this place to the whims of fate, or try to save it in whatever way you can, is up to you.
