Leaving behind the dinosaur caravan, the part continued south, finding the gorge that divides the The Vorsenese Plain. As they moved south they faced two major challenges on the road to Melacet. The first was a Peryton nest that the party stumbled upon. Jes snagged a mysterious helmet from the nest but before the party could make an escape one of the Peryton's returned and attacked. The party was forced to kill the bird but not before it had smashed the cart and killed one of the horses and the mastiff.

Red Lights at Night Over the Vorsenese Plain
But the greatest challenge came on the last night on the road as the party approached the town of Melacet. Bandits attacked in the night, led by the terrifying Rag Bag Man, some kind of evil scarecrow who ordered the other bandits to kill the party and crusify them on a great wood X the Rag Bag Man carried. When the Rag Bag Man was struck down one of the other bandits produced a scarecrow mask and transformed himself into the Rag Bag Man. It was a close call but the party defeated the bandits and burned the remaining scare crow masks carried by the bandits.
