Crownsgate

Crownsgate is the capital city of Veridia, the Northern-most country of the Tapestry. It is home to the Veridian monarchy, the Fiorenach Family, as well as the country's centre of trade and commerce.

Government

As the capital of Veridia, Crownsgate is the nation's seat of power and is home to the monarchy which rules the country of Veridia. The monarch is the head of state and holds significant power currently, however increasing pressure from the people for Veridia to transition towards constitutionalism have put the monarchy at risk of becoming purely ceremonial, or even being abolished.
The Privy Council of Crownsgate is made up of scholars, nobles and some religious leaders, they act as an advisory body to the monarch when important decisions are being made, however under the current leadership of King Gionand Fiorenach, more and more responsibility has been placed on the Privy Council to lead the country in his stead. Because of their declining faith in the King and the increasing unrest of the citizens of Veridia, the Privy Council is moving towards becoming the foundations of a new Constitutional Assembly. Until then, the monarch still holds significant power and the final say over matters of state.

Architecture

The architecture of Crownsgate is heavily divided between the working and noble districts. Where most of the city features half-timbered structures which line narrow cobbled streets, the closer you get to the palace the more grand the buildings become; pale stone and even some marble structures with ornate facades and columns, these buildings tend to be symetrical with arched windows and balconies.
