Flynt Locke
Captain Flynt Locke
Captain Flynt Locke is the vampirate captain of Locke's Freebooters and a powerful necromancer currently based out of Podspace. From his flagship, Isobel's Grief, Captain Locke commands the loyalty of the undead and living alike and is willing to work for anyone so long as they have the coin to pay.
History
The undead Captain Locke first appeared in the Rapide Frontier in the 1460s onboard his now infamous flagship, Isobel's Grief. Throughout that decade, Captain Locke's daring, brash behavior, and willingness to work for anyone began earning him a reputation as one of the fiercest pirates the Frontier had ever known. In 1474, Locke loosely organized a group of other pirates willing to attach themselves to his name as Locke's Freebooters. He then came up with a daring plan to occupy Podspace and capture and butcher migrating kindori herds. The meat and blubber of the kindori would be sold for coin while the skeletons of the great beasts could form an ever-growing navy of undead protectors. Locke's plan was a success, and more pirates flocked to his cause as Podspace became a haven for the raiders of the Flow, so long as they allowed themselves to be subservient to Captain Flynt. The Imperial Elven Navy, growing increasingly hostile to the increased pirate activity, began planning a raid on Podspace in the late 1470s but were interrupted by the outbreak of the Second Unhuman War. During that war, Captain Locke accepted a contract given by the Scro to raid the vessels of the IEN and their allies. However, as the Scro payments dried up later in the war, the Freebooters began attacking all sides, growing rich in the process. Following the war, the Freebooters are more secure in Podspace than ever after a decade and a half of creating skeleton ships and undead to protect it. Weakened by the war, the Scro and IEN both seem unwilling or unable to take direct action against the Freebooters.Social
Social Aptitude
Despite his backstabbing tendencies, there are very few that can say they weren't charmed by Captain Locke, even as they were having their lives threatened. Nearly always jovial and exaggerated, Locke's sheer charisma sometimes seems to be the only thing holding the Freebooters together, alongside the threat of traitors joining his undead legions, but even these threats are always delivered with a smile.
