Zilevo, The Shadow of Treason

Zilevo is the god of treachery, thievery, and darkness. He is patron to thieves, assassins, raiders, and any who believe in taking what they want regardless of what anyone else thinks. Zilevo believes that if a person wants something and they have the ability to take it, then they have every right to do so, as long as they can then protect it form others in turn. Zilevo has a tall, lithe form, dressed in dark clothing. He carries a variety of bladed weapons, but supposedly the most deadly one is a small, hidden dagger found within his sleeve.   Zilevo believes that people only have a right to what they can fight to get and fight to keep. The strong and the skilled can take whatever they desire, and if they are unable to stop another from taking it from them then they did not deserve it in the first place. Zilevo frequently operates in a manner similar to Yperifanos, in that he grants individuals the skills and power needed to take what they want, and in exchange they make some offering to him. The difference is that while Yperifanos will always hold to the terms established in his contracts, Zilevo will without fail, betray the terms as soon as he feels it would benefit him most. Generally this means that as soon as an individual who has bargained with Zilevo for power has decided they have fulfilled their goals and no longer needs to continue stealing, Zilevo will use their link to directly claim the soul of the individual. This also commonly means that Zilevo needs to rely on trickery and deception to acquire these deals, as very few knowingly bargain with the god of betrayal.   Betrayal is a common theme for the followers of Zilevo. Many times his church has recruited from those who have betrayed others. The guilt those people feel in their minds makes them vulnerable to Zilevo's influence if they do not confess, and if they do not feel any guilt then they are a likely candidate as they share a similar mindset to Zilevo himself. Being a member of ZIlevo's clergy is not a permanent thing. Some spend years, decades, or even centuries working for Zilevo, but at some point either he will betray the follower, or the follower will betray the god. Usually, Zilevo wins this exchange, though some particularly notable individuals have managed to outsmart the gods, though usually with assistance from another powerful entity.
