The Serpent's Skull
The corpse of Azaquya lies hidden and lost somewhere in the Sunken Lands, but some serpentfolk have still reported hearing the voice of their dead goddess, coming through a vision of a large skeletal snake, however, the Serpent's Skull is very different from the goddess they once worshipped. It is angry, vengeful, and full of hate for the world Azaquya gave her life to protect. It directs the serpentfolks' actions against the rest of the world, and claims they are superior for remaining the true, loyal followers of Azuquya's will, and directs them to continue worshipping the skull, with the goal of one day restoring their goddess to life.
Whether the Serpent's Skull is actually a vengeful remnant of Azuquya or just the embodiment of the Serperntfolks' own rage towards the world is unclear, but it matters not to the majority of Serpentfolk who follow the Skulls guidance. The Skull claims that the Serpentfolk are the greatest of all mortal life, and are destined to rule the world as a reward for their loyalty to the skull. In exchange the Skull demands regular sacrifices, and magnificent temples. The Serpent's Skull wages an active war against all other gods, doing what it can to hoard divine power for itself. The Skull does not grant many powers to its followers, instead having the Serpentfolk rely on their own inherent Psychic abilities, and only giving the full powers of a cleric to the most devout worshippers. The Serpent's Skull demands that the other mortal races are either bound in chains or sacrificed, and seems to bear a particular hatred for other former followers of Azuquya, who it has deemed traitors, as well as the races created by Nodurog, who killed Azuquya originally.
Followers of the Serpent's Skull are almost universally Serpentfolk. Some of their slaves and prisoners have been indoctrinated of brainwashed into believing, but there are not nearly as dedicated and do so more out of fear and necessity rather than actual devoutness. Followers are instructed to present a regular stream of sacrifices, and as such they regularly raid different settlements in the Sunken Lands as part of their quest for their god. Sacrifices from the surface are considered even more valuable, and any of the races deemed a "True Enemy" by the Skull are of the highest priority to capture and sacrifice, for those deemed a "True Enemy" are never taken as slaves.
