The Creation of the World

Long after Dhuzum had first spun the wheel of time the universe sat empty save for a spattering of stars scattered across the cosmos. The Elemental Planes each sat separate, each holding a different piece of primordial power, but no one piece enough on its own to create anything, but the most basic life. The planes would sometimes overlap, but never long enough for anything permanent to take hold. Eventually the six deities who ruled the elemental planes would hold a meeting. They each had their own domain, and their own power, but they knew that together they could be something more, and so they began to work together. Nodurog built the foundation for the others to mold. Vasilisa carved out the continents with the ocean, and provided the water to sustain the future inhabitants. Azuquya created the sky, providing a barrier to protect their creation. Khaal breathed fire into the core of the world, providing the spark that would begin life. Easara covered the world in plants, whose roots would bind together the efforts of the others.    Seeing their creation take form, the gods sought to guide life as it began to develop, each shaping it how they saw fit. Nodurog wanted his creatures strong enough to weather the ages, and so he made sturdy creatures, such as the dwarves, orcs, and lizardfolk. Vasilisa filled the oceans with aquatic life such as merfolk. Azaquya filled the skies with majestic winged serpents and the bird-like tengu. Khaal created creatures that were wild and full of life, such as the catfolk and ratfolk. Easara wanted her creatures to be in tune with the world, and so she made the Elves and the Fey. Easara also wanted a way to watch over the world, and so she created the Reflection, a mirror of the world that would reflect the changes that happened.   After all of this one god still remained, having not yet contributed. Rhaxium waited patiently, until each other the other gods had finished with their work. Afterwords he looked towards the leftovers. Bits of primordial matter that the other gods had forgotten about. He took the extra matter and formed it together into a smaller world, and set it to orbit the larger one. This would be the moon, and it would show the people of the world that even when the sun had set, and Easara was not watching them, he still would be. From this matter he would also shape the first humans, who would share traits with all the other races. With what little was left after that, he would create the Halflings, so as to ensure that nothing was left forgotten.   And finally with their worked finished, the gods would retreat to their Divine Realms. Over time new deities would begin to appear. Though less powerful than those who built the world, these deities took a very active role in the lives of mortals, and they themselves seemed to grow as their followers grew. This signaled a new universal truth to all gods. The age of life and the direction it took, was in the hands of mortal kind.
