Noth, The Slumberer

Noth is the sleeping god of dreams and emptiness. Noth does not actively set out to gain followers, claim souls, or do anything at all. Instead Noth sleeps and dreams, spreading his corruption seemingly at random, and slowly draining the souls from his victims as they sleep. Noth's appearance varies in the different dreams people have had of him, but there is always something off about it. He appears humanoid, but limbs seem bent in strange ways, his flesh seems to sag and almost appears to be melting off of him. His facial features are asymmetrical and off center. He appears to almost be a dream himself, but one where nothing is as it should be.   Noth's victims suffer from what is known as the Draining Dream. At first it just manifests as restless sleep and strange dreams. Eventually this leads to the individual growing tired and lethargic during the day. The dreams grow more intense, turning into vicious nightmares. They continue to get worse and worse until eventually, the nightmares suddenly stop. Instead they are replaced by surreal lucid dreams. In them the individual feels more alive and energetic than ever before, and is able to live out their wildest dreams and fantasies. However, during the day they become even more drained of energy. As time goes on the individuals slowly spend more and more of their time sleeping, as dreaming is when they are able to feel alive, and regular life becomes dull and exhausting. Should this continue for long enough the victim will eventually die, the last of their life force having been taken from them by Noth.   Some who fall the Draining Dream do not actually die. Instead they begin to see messages within their dreams. These become the Devoted Dreamers, the cult dedicated to interpreting the dreams of Noth, and attempting to act on his wishes. The cults actions are frequently just as bizarre and surreal as the dreams of Noth himself, as the rules seem to constantly change as different interpretations seem to result in different things. The cult will spend months setting up an assassination of a prominent ruler, only to scrap their entire plan the day before it was set to be carried out if a new dream happens and they think Noth's desires have changed, but one of the most terrifying aspects of the cult is that despite all this the actions of the Devoted Dreamers somehow seem to succeed. A cult member might be ordered to go into the forest and slightly sicken a very specific tree, only for that tree to be used years later in the construction of a building that collapses due to a hidden weakness first implanted by that cultist, killing the towns mayor. Luckily the cult spends most of its time trying to interpret the dreams, or consuming hallucinogens to induce more dreams, rather than actually acting on these plans.

Divine Domains

Evil, Darkness, Madness, Void

Holy Books & Codes

Each sect of Noth's cult has their own archive where they record the dreams their leaders have had, and different interpretations of those dreams.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Noth's Divine Symbol changes frequently, as no interpretation has ever seemed to fully conclude what it should be. The closest thing to a symbol is the dream journal that each follower of Noth uses to record their dreams in an attempt to interpret them.

Tenets of Faith

The tenets of Noth's faith also vary as different interpretations of various dreams result in different rules being enforced at different times. Sometimes Noth demands a certain outfit, or a certain prayer, but no two groups of Noth's followers will ever have the same rules at the same time.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Noth's goals are unknown, as the dreams only ever seem to promise that their is some bizarre greater goal to his actions, but never what that goal is.
