Bral' Gott, Lord of the Forgotten Depths
Bral' Gott is the collection of the insane remnants of gods killed in the Great Sundering. An insane mass of twisted limbs and random tendrils, Bral' Gott is the personification of the worst horrors found throughout the Sunken Lands. It is a terrifying monster that only seeks the destruction of the gods that dared to survive intact, and a way to break free from its prison in the darkness.
When the Great Sundering wracked the world it wiped out entire populations with the devastation it caused, and countless individuals lost their lives, causing some Lesser Deities to lose the entirety of the worshippers in mere moments. The shock of this occurrence twisted those deities, destroying much of their forms instantly, and causing them to begin to rapidly degrade. Some of those dying gods managed to band their powers together in an effort to survive, but at a terrible cost. The conflicting natures of the different deities, the pain of losing their followers, and the corrupting energies unleashed in the Great Sundering warped those deities into one foul being. For millennia after that entity slept, but as people from the Lands Above gradually reconnected with the Sunken Lands, and began to tell stories of the terrible creatures and unspeakable horrors found down there, it awoke. This being, now known as Bral' Gott, would serve as god of fear, paranoia, and insanity. Bral' Gott is the representation of the unknown and the worst possibilities. Its goals represent the surfaces fears about what the denizens of the Sunken Lands intend to do to them, drag down the Lands Above, and enforce suffering for all. When the gods noticed Bral' Gott they were horrified. In Bral' Gott they could sense bits and pieces of former friends and allies, but twisted into a monstrosity beyond recognition. Their response was to seal it away, deep within the world, so it could never threaten the rest of creation.
Bral' Gott does not hold on to worshippers for long. Those that choose to worship it find themselves quickly descending into an insanity similar to that of their god. Many end up sacrificing themselves, or get killed attempting to acquire sacrifices. Others simply collapse into a catatonic state. Those that do manage to retain enough of their minds to remain functional find themselves forever changed. Small parts of Bral' Gott escape through its worshippers, mutating their bodies and granting them incredibly power. The followers of Bral' Gott work tirelessly in search of away to release it form its prison, and are an ever present threat to those in the Sunken Lands as they need to continuously find new sacrifices to preserve their sanity.
