Empress Thanyanil

Empress Thanyanil Nostlim is the seventh and current ruler of the Ikhtal Empire. She became Empress in 886 SF following the death of her mother, Empress Alagossiel.

Early Life

Thia Nostlim was born in the Golden Palace in Altanuur, Ikhtal Empire on Tuulai 3, Alagos 115 (Shairin: 3 Tavshan, 599 SF). The only child of Empress Alagossiel and her consort, Peldirion, Thia was heir apparent to the imperial throne from birth. As has long been practiced by the elven nobility of the empire, Thia was raised by a nursemaid and tutors, rather than directly by her parents. She did not spend any significant time with her mother until she was an adult.
As a child, Thia was famous for her quick temper and headstrong nature. On the rare occasion that the young princess was denied something, all traces of her otherwise charming demeanor would disappear, and Thia would resort to threats of violence to get what she desired. Time and a patient etiquette tutor eventually brought the princess’s fiery temper under control. While the threat of violence dissolved, however, Thia instead turned to manipulation to achieve her goals. A highly intelligent young woman, Thia regularly outpaced her tutors.
On her 110th birthday, Thia declared herself an adult, and was formally invested as the heir apparent to the Ikhtal Empire. She chose the name Thanyanil, meaning “shield woman”, to evoke images of defending the empire alongside her ancestors.

Reign

Accession and Coronation

Thanyanil’s mother, Empress Alagossiel, died after a prolonged illness on Tsakhlai 21, in the 402nd year of her reign. The following day, Thanyanil ascended the imperial throne, beginning the Thand Era in the Ikhtali calendar.
Empress Thanyanil’s coronation was held a month after the previous Empress’s death, on 21 Gürvel, per Ikhtali custom. Members of the noble houses of the empire were in attendance, as were representatives from most of the nations of the Summerlands. The empire’s aggression toward Kar-Dalai under Empress Alagossiel had soured relations between the two nations, and in a decision widely viewed as an insult to Empress Thanyanil, Kar-Dalai did not send a representative.

Personal Life

Thanyanil took Merilinion Rundanil as her consort in Thand 15 explicitly for the purpose of producing an heir. She vastly prefers the company of women over that of men, and thus, does not favor her husband with attention. Her child and heir, Onnath Nostlim, was born on Yamaa 14, Thand 51.
