A Land of Possibility
This continent is home to a multitude of people and creatures, whether civilized and flourishing or wild and dangerous. From a history of fallen kingdoms, tyrranical empires, and brave explorers has arisen a diverse land of ruins, monsters, and the young civilizations which attempt to emerge from the ashes. By fate or fortune, all living creatures here carve out their place in the land, their journey and strength of will mapped across the heavens in the Guiding Stars from whence the land got its name. The possibilities for one's life are as vast as the stars themselves!
A Prism of Cultures
Many sentient creaturs form natural enclaves together, such as the long-lived elves, gnomes, and dwarves, or the water-loving tortles and tritons. While some rivalry and distrust is unavoidable, the shared dangers all Starlandians face brings a unity which cannot be understated. Separated by a dark and feral wilderness, burgeoning cities attempt commerce and communication as best as they can, united by the endless threat of mighty beasts and cunning monsters. Explorers seek safer trade routes. Hunters thin the roving hordes. And adventurers delve into ruins to retrieve power from the past. The call to tame the wilds and uncover its secrets is always there, beckoning for someone to step up and do what's right for the people.
A Realm in Need of Heroes
There are those here who abuse the hopes and good faith of the masses. Corrupt officials and opportunistic raiders exploit the land, preying on those who trust too easily or have nowhere else to go. Without a unifying empire, there is often no higher power to turn to, and it is all too easy for crafty oppressors to avoid justice for their tyrrany. Every evil force imagineable, from treacherous pirates and corrupt barons to greedy dragons and mindless monsters, have become bolder, and the once-vibrant spirit of cooperation in the Starlands has dulled in the face of such relentless opposition. Heroes are few and far between these days, and for many of the downtrodden, hope has become a fading dream.
