A self-styled provocateur, blogger, right-wing troll, and general piece-of-shit douchebag, Deryn runs the much maligned but popular blog EC/Slag. Though he has been widely deplatformed for spreading false information, inciting violence, and racist rhetoric, Deryn (or D-Bal, as his fans know him) enjoys a devoted cult following among Edge City's most virulent bottom-dwellers.

He made a name for himself during his series on 'ethics in games journalism', in which he publicly harassed several prominent reporters and correspondents, claiming that they had ties to shifters or were shifted themselves.
