Khagrild Mossmuse Character in The Somer Plate | World Anvil

Khagrild Mossmuse

They say that a sailor have a girl in every port. Khagrild Mossmuse, while never having seen the sea or ocean, have several girls in every oasis town. A centaur from the Northern Deserts, Khagrild is a hunter of quite the renown. A genderfluid person with a rough, scarred face and some missing parts, they have fought off plenty of beasts that have threatened the common folks' lives and safety.   Initially a mere hunter roaming the desert and the fringes of it occasionally, Khagrild would bring their catches to the various markets near whatever oasis town they would happen to catch something. They would garner a lot of attention for dragging in stranger and stranger beasts, some even alive and tamed. People started to look forward to their random visits, having fun by betting on what Khagrild might bring with them next. Another reason for Khagrild's increasing popularity was the small, tamed beasts that people could easily keep as pets, that they would sometimes bring with them. Khadrild would not sell these little creatures, but rather give them to women of any kind that they found attractive, pleasant, and capable. It is seen as a great compliment to be gifted a beast by Khagrild, who, while free with their flirtations and intimacy, was more careful about who got to take their tamed beasts off their hands. Even simply being allowed to buy a beast from Khagrild was seen as a compliment, and anyone with one of Khagrilds beasts is seen as trustworthy individuals in the desert settlements. Many wealthy or otherwise unscrupulous individuals try to as a result suck up to Khagrild, pretending to be trustworthy people. Now, if they were trustworthy but unkind, that wouldn't much matter to Khagrild so long as they knew that the person would be able to properly care for their beast, but Khagrild is able to see through false nicety and instantly takes that as the person being untrustworthy. If it gets out that someone tried to manipulate Khagrild, that person is looked upon very unfavorably. Khagrild themself might forgive it to an extent, but the centaur is a treasured and well-liked individual to most anyone that they know, and those people will absolutely not forgive. Which, in all honestly, slightly worries Khagrild at times.
