Legion

Legion is a fiercely anti-augmentation terrorist organization operating across Acheron Prime, dedicated to preserving what they believe is the purity of the human race in the face of rampant cybernetic and genetic dehumanization. They view the growing reliance on Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering as a direct threat to the essence of humanity, believing that these technologies corrupt the soul and undermine the natural order. Legion aims to halt the spread of bio-enhancements through violent means, targeting corporations, governments, and individuals who they see as responsible for the degradation of human identity. They believe that only by rejecting these technologies can humanity remain truly human.

Structure

Legion is organized as a decentralized network of cells, each working autonomously under the broader mission to preserve human purity. This structure makes it difficult for law enforcement to eradicate them, as each cell operates independently but adheres to the group’s core ideology.
  • The Prime Council: The Prime Council is the leadership body of Legion, made up of individuals who believe in maintaining humanity’s natural state. These leaders remain anonymous, communicating through secret channels to issue directives and ensure that all cells are aligned with Legion’s overarching goals.
  • Cell Commanders: Each region or city has a Cell Commander responsible for organizing local operations, recruitment, and sabotage efforts. Commanders are ideologically driven and fiercely loyal to the cause, overseeing both the propaganda and military wings of Legion.
  • Purity Operatives: These are the frontline soldiers of Legion, tasked with carrying out attacks on augmentation facilities, corporate labs, and government offices that promote or regulate human modifications. Many operatives come from backgrounds where they have witnessed the destructive effects of augmentation firsthand, and they carry out their missions with zeal.
  • Propagandists: Legion relies on a dedicated team of propagandists who spread their message across Acheron Prime, warning of the dangers of Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering. These individuals use both traditional media and underground networks to communicate the organization’s ideology to the masses, attempting to win over sympathizers to their cause.
  • Sympathizers and Collaborators: While not all members of Legion are combatants, many serve as sympathizers and collaborators, offering safe houses, resources, and information to the organization. These individuals work behind the scenes, supporting Legion’s activities and spreading their anti-augmentation beliefs.

Culture

Legion’s culture is defined by its rejection of technology, particularly the belief that Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering strip away the core essence of humanity. Members are fervently devoted to maintaining the purity of the human form and see themselves as protectors of a natural order that is being corrupted by unchecked technological progress.
  • Human Purity: Members of Legion see Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering as an affront to nature, and those who embrace these technologies are viewed as traitors to the human race. Legion’s culture revolves around the belief that humanity must remain untouched by technology to preserve its true essence.
  • Sacrifice for the Cause: Legion’s members are willing to make extreme sacrifices for their cause. Many have turned down lucrative opportunities for enhancements or medical treatments that could prolong their lives because they view such modifications as inherently corrupting. This willingness to suffer for their beliefs earns them respect within the organization.
  • Distrust of Authority: Legion distrusts corporations and governments, viewing them as the main drivers of the “dehumanization” agenda. They believe that the spread of augmentation technology is part of a larger plan to control the population by turning people into compliant, enhanced drones.

Public Agenda

Legion’s primary goal is to preserve the purity of humanity by preventing the widespread adoption of Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering. They use violence, sabotage, and propaganda to halt the advance of these technologies and dismantle the systems that support them.
  • Eliminate Augmentation Facilities: Legion targets biotech firms, cybernetic labs, and augmentation clinics that promote or develop enhancements. Their attacks include bombings, assassinations, and sabotage aimed at disrupting the production and distribution of Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering technologies.
  • Expose the Dangers of Augmentation: Through propaganda campaigns, Legion seeks to expose what they believe are the hidden dangers of augmentation, including the loss of humanity, dependence on technology, and the control of populations through corporate and governmental cybernetic programs. They often hijack broadcasts, hack systems, and spread their message through underground networks.
  • Undermine the Pro-Augmentation Elite: Legion views those who have embraced augmentation—whether corporate leaders, government officials, or even common citizens—as complicit in the dehumanization of society. They aim to publicly discredit, assassinate, or sabotage these individuals, using both physical and digital means to achieve their goals.
  • Prevent the Spread of Technology: Legion works to prevent the spread of augmentation technology to vulnerable or marginalized populations. They often sabotage efforts to provide bio-enhancements to the poor, believing that these communities are being manipulated into accepting augmentations they don’t fully understand.

History

Legion was founded by a group of exiled scientists, religious leaders, and former government officials who became disillusioned with the rapid advancement of augmentation technology and its widespread acceptance in society. The founder, known as The Pure One, was a former geneticist who once worked for a major corporation but became convinced that the future being shaped by Cybernetics would destroy the very essence of humanity.

The group initially began as a resistance movement, using peaceful protests and educational campaigns to spread their message about the dangers of augmentations. However, after these efforts failed to stop the growing influence of corporate-backed cybernetic technology, Legion turned to violent tactics. Their first major attack was a bombing at a Cybernetics manufacturing plant, which drew the attention of both the public and law enforcement.

Over the years, Legion has grown in strength, attracting more followers who feel alienated by the heavily augmented society of Acheron Prime. Today, they are considered one of the most dangerous anti-augmentation groups in the galaxy, carrying out a campaign of terror against any entity that promotes cybernetic or genetic enhancements.
