Chimneyhaus

Unlike the other communities in the Shire, the occupants of Chimneyhays are quite different because they had been used to seeing Till almost daily. He had at some point purchased a cow to get regular milk from, and converted an old maple shack into a barn for the cow. In doing so, he closed off the chimney to the stove where maple sap was once boiled, and a family of mice stumbled onto the perfect, isolated home within the stack: Chimneyhaus. Over time, other mice took up shop in the chimney, and now about 60 mice from multiple families call it home. The mothers of the mothers of this community learned how to make cheese from the cow's milk by watching Till. They copied his techniques, and even improved on them some. For decades this community has become known for their cheese trade, which has made them prosperous. All of the other rodent communities regularly trade with the members of Chimneyhaus who provide an invaluable service to the other residents.
