A Short History of Tiag

Mortal Life

It is said that the first person to be killed by the Darkness when it emerged was a young child. No child deserves death, they still have so much to see, feel and experience.

Ascension

The power of grief is strong. After Tiag's death their parents did not want to let go. So they collected all the energy they could and all the allies they could find in such a short time. Together they cast a spell to bind the soul of the child to this world, to have more time for an eventual resurrection, to meet their kid one last time, to say goodbye.
This, however, never happened. They died while casting the spell, consumed by the darkness, begging for mercy, pleading for their child to be saved from such a fate. A wish that was granted. A spell unfinished and magic partly bound to a soul, forever binding the young one to the world until its parents would have a chance to say goodbye - something that would never happen, no soul survives being swallowed by the Darkness.
Now a lonely soul wanders the line between our world and the next. Looking for loved ones that will never come, happily greeting any new visitor, interogating them about on anything they could know and eventually guiding them to a door they deep down know they will never be able to pass themselves.

Worship

Worshippers

Few know of Tiag, fewer have met them and even less people remember meeting Tiag. Those that are closely connected to death often feel their presence, be it murderers sensing an entity that flows around their victims, soldiers swearing that they see something in their dead comrades or some clerics that feel a deep peace after they could not save someone.

Priests
Few actually follow Tiag. What is there to worship and follow after all? Those that do are often exceptionally kind people bent on easing the pain and suffering around them. They show an almost childlike curiousity when investigating the world around them, a surprising lot of them have a scientific mind, managing to utilize that curiosity.

Paladins
Almost as from an old tale of knights and chivalry, these Paladins are pure good and justly. Hair blowing heroicly in a non existant breeze, always polished shining armour and defending the defensless, fighting the vile and rotten. This may lead to a very simplistic world view and over simplify complex situations.

Acts of Worship

Be good and do good. Aid the dying, spare the dying, kill as little as possible. Treat the children well and punish those that don't.

Temples

No real temples exist. Though, if a town has one or more worshippers, they often consecrate the graveyards and catacombs of other temples. With the blessings of the actual owners.
