Witness Protocolls

Butler:
The butler was preparing the morning report detailing what messages had arrived overnight. At this point he heard a loud scream and immediately sent a runner to the city guard. He ran to the chambers, encountering the screaming maid. He removed her from the situation and ordered the arriving guards to apprehend the intruders for questioning.

Maid:
The maid reports that she was about to bring the regular breakfast to the couple. As she had done countless times in the past. Following the agreed on schedule, she prepared the ordered food and beverages, before knocking at the chamber door. She was invited in as regular, finding two tieflings in her empoyers bed. At this time she dropped the plates she was carrying and screamed.

Reconstruction of Events

The couple went to bed late the previous day. They had been working on a trade agreement with another harbour citty, negotiating taxes and tariffs. Servant staff report them ordering for a late meal to be brought into their study. Apparently the two visitors were not hungry and declined to eat.
Maids report hearing a loud and angry conversation between the dignitaries and the couple, after which the visitors left in a hurry and quite aggravated (the search for them is still ongoing). At about one in the night the couple decided to go to bed and retreated to their chambers, giving orders to be awoken later then usual.
A night guard claims that he heard a small commotion from the bed chamber a short time after that, choosing not to check in, as he did not want to disturb their privacy - a similar incident had occured shortly before and resulted in harsh punishment.
In the morning the staff found their employers gone and replaced with a couple of infernals in their stead. The guards had been called and managed to apprehend one of the suspects and, the other was killed in the ensuing struggle.

Interrogation Protocoll

The following was taken verbatim from the interrogation of the surviving intruder. A male tiefling of about 46 years of age. He has since been handed over to the mages, to further our understanding of deseased minds. The infernal creature was definitely not of clear mind, thus nothing it says can be taken seriously.

You have to believe me good sir. There I was, just enjoying my evening with my lovely wife when we were assaulted by these viscious individuals. Unbeknownst to us they had returned and entered the private area without our approval.
These two individuals then proceeded to hold my beloved and myself at the edge of their sabers. They pressed their hands against our chests, beginning a ghastly incantation. When it finnished nothing had changed. Upon their departure, we found ourselves unable to speak to anyone at all.
We decided to resolve this issue in the morning, with clear, refreshed minds and steely resolve. When I awoke I found my darling wife replaced by this infernal creature, in shock I cried out and ordered my guards to kill the creature. They followed my order, as expected, but continued their assault on me! Can you believe that good sir?

Since this infernal has been found at a high profile crime scene, refused to give a coherent answer and proved to be utterly uncooperative, the order for his execution has been given, signed and put into action.
The search for the missing Steinsaltz' is still going on, their return is awaited with great anticipation.
