Appearance

You haven't been to the shifting isles until you met Rufus or someone just like him. Dressed to impress, fashionable coat and trousers, a stylish tricorn with a large plume stuck to it and boots polished enough to make every mirror turn green with envy. A rapier always at his side and a million daggers hidden in his clothes. His hair dashingly ruffled.

Personality

The defining charcter trait of Rufus is, that he despises all slavers. He will attack them on sight and do his best to kill them - even if it would mean his own death, as he no longer really values his own life, feeling that he failed his parents. His friends and allies often have to hold him back from doing something stupid.

Rufus will usually greet you with a sly grin and be ready to get you drunk to learn what you know. Once he considers you an ally, he will be firmly on your side, unless you insult him or his values.

He dreams of being reunited with his parents.

History

You met Rufus on Tortuga, apparently he already knew who Ren'An was and has at least some history with him, making references to past missions.

Rufus was born to enslaved parents, making him a slave as well. For many years he only knew hard labour and cold barely nourishing food. His fate changed when his parents were contacted by The Firebrands offering to take the, by now, sixteen year old boy to the safety of the shifting isles. His parents agreed to that, knowing full well that they would very likely never see him again. So Rufus arrived at the shifting isles and experienced many things for the first time, freedom, proper food, love and batttle. He learned fast how to navigate this world and soon joined the organisation that brought him freedom. Over many years he unseccussfully tried to track down his parents, having given up by now.
