The Awakened Sovereigns of Veyron

"The burning crown of divine memory."

These rulers were not chosen by mortal lineage, but Awakened through ancient rites — embodying the sacred animals of the Five Old Gods. Their reigns were said to maintain the balance of the gods and their edicts, until the line fractured under the weight of the Mourning Star Rebellion.

I. The First Sovereign — Xiezhi, Voice of Judgment

  • Name: Sovereign Tzu Shen
  • Form: Xiezhi — the divine beast of discernment and law
  • Era: The Founding (~500 years before the Mourning Star Rebellion)
  • Role: Tzu Shen was said to be born fully Awakened, or chosen by The Judge.
  • Deeds: United the fractious houses, quelled false prophets, laid the laws of empire.
  • Legacy: Their bones are said to lie beneath Caer Hanin’s throne — entombed with the blades of their rivals.

"The world must begin with judgment, or all that follows is hollow."

II. The Boar Sovereign — Wrath of the Soldier

  • Name: Sovereign Kael-Marruk
  • Form: Great Ashen Plains Boar
  • Era: The Conquest
  • Role: Led expansionist wars across Solvar. Embodied strength, sacrifice, discipline.
  • Deeds: Broke the wild clans of the Ashen Plains, subdued House Dru’vok.
  • Legacy: Revered by military castes; invoked in wartime rites even after the fall.

"No crown weighs heavier than that earned through blood."

III. The Lamb Sovereign — Eyes of the Warden

  • Name: Sovereign Halaji
  • Form: White Lamb with silver eyes
  • Era: The Restoration
  • Role: Ruled during a time of plague and moral collapse. A healer, not a conqueror.
  • Deeds: Restored sacred groves, ended blood taxes, sheltered exiled Kholo.
  • Legacy: Their fleece is said to still bloom flowers where it was buried.

"Mercy binds the world tighter than chains ever could."

IV. The Magpie Twin-Sovereigns — Jest and Fate

  • Name: Sovereign Khazra & Sovereign Lira
  • Form: Two Magpies, souls bound by the Awakening ritual
  • Era: The Age of Masks
  • Role: Ruled jointly in a time of illusion, deception, and shifting alliances.
  • Deeds: Introduced veiled courts, riddle-laws, and the sovereign's jesters.
  • Legacy: The forbidden palace of the Twin Thrones remain the only shrine to the Fool, cursed to time immemorial.

"Truth is not what is seen, but what dances between."

V. The Crane Sovereign — Lover of the Lost Flame

  • Name: Sovereign Saan-Shai
  • Form: Crane with bleeding feathers
  • Era: The Twilight (just before the Mourning Star Rebellion)
  • Role: A gentle, haunting figure; obsessed with prophecy and divine memory.
  • Deeds: Opened the Vault of the Sixth God. Some say they loved her.
  • Legacy: House Veyron split in their absence. The court became a cult in mourning.

"They danced upon the shores of reality, and named the stars in her voice."

Creation of the Awakened Sovereigns

  • Awakened through a divine ritual lost to history — possibly guided by the Judge or the Betrothed.
  • Each sovereign was said to carry the god’s memory, binding them to their sacred duty.
  • The Sixth God was never granted an animal form — her rites were forbidden.
