Sacred Beasts of the Old Faith

In the Shattered Realms of Solvar, the Five Gods once walked among mortals, and the echoes of their presence still linger in the sacred beasts of the world. Each creature is a living symbol, revered by the faithful, feared by the faithless, and honored in rites and memory.

The Betrothed: The Crane
Elegant and solemn, the crane dances in silent devotion. It symbolizes sacred vows, loyalty that survives the storms of fate, and love that endures beyond loss. To see a crane at twilight is an omen of unbroken bonds.

The Fool: The Magpie
Clever and bold, the magpie hoards secrets and shiny truths alike. It embodies wit, trickery, and the hidden wisdom found in laughter. A magpie's cry at dawn is said to mark a turning of fortune.

The Judge: The Xiezhi
The horned beast of ancient judgment, the Xiezhi sees through lies and strikes down the guilty. To the faithful, it represents pure justice, incorruptible and merciless. Statues of the Xiezhi guard the oldest courts and forgotten temples.

The Soldier: The Boar
Fierce and unyielding, the boar charges forward even when wounded. It stands for valor in battle, the defense of comrades, and the sacred duty to endure. Warriors who fall honorably are said to ride with the Boar in the afterlife.

The Warden: The Tortoise and the Lamb
The Warden bears two faces. The Tortoise is the eternal sentinel, patient and indomitable, carrying the memory of oaths and protected boundaries. The Lamb is innocence itself, a symbol of trust freely given and the lives the faithful must defend at all costs.

In every wingbeat, every hoof-fall, every silent tread of these sacred beasts, the memory of the Old Gods endures. Honor them, and walk the ashen paths with reverence.
