House Marrowvere

House Marrowvere of the western shores is known for its unmatched seafaring and mastery of subterfuge. Where others wage war with blades and banners, the Marrowveres wage it with secrets, veiled threats, and gold that always finds the right pockets. Magic, to them, is not a weapon of conquest but a tool of influence—used to charm, deceive, and divine advantage in the courts and the shadows alike.

During the Mourning Star Rebellion, House Marrowvere played all sides with surgical precision. Their ships ferried troops, their mages warded supply lines and their merchants ensured the coalition and the rebels remained well-stocked—so long as the coin flowed. The war, for them, was not a crusade. It was a market. And when the dust settled, they emerged wealthier, more connected, and utterly untouchable.

In the uneasy calm that followed, Marrowvere turned its gaze away from politics and toward the deeper mysteries of Solvar. Rather than building armies or fortresses, they poured their wealth into expeditions—voyages into forgotten ruins, drowned cities, and ancient caverns said to house relics of divine origin. Whispers speak of the Deepbinders, a hidden cabal within the house that believes the gods left behind more than myths—that ancient artifacts, buried before the rise of empire, could bend the future to the will of those who possess them.

House Marrowvere’s relationship with the old Veyron Empire was one of calculated fealty. They were never fixtures of the imperial court, nor did they hunger for imperial favour. Instead, they dwelled at the margins—serving as the Empire’s maritime arm, operating the vast fleets that kept its provinces connected and its faith supplied. Their ships bore the Veyron seal, their ports flew the imperial standard, and their nobles paid dutiful homage—but always with measured deference. They thrived under the Empire’s protection, yet never entangled themselves in its inner politics or succession crises.

When the Empire began to crack, House Marrowvere quietly stepped aside. They did not fight for the old world, nor did they burn it down. They guaranteed they would profit, no matter who wore the crown.
