House Alowen

House Alowen rules over the fertile eastern lowlands known as the Verdant Reach, a region of golden fields, thriving river cities, and ancient temples that predate even the Veyron Empire. Long considered paragons of courtly grace, spiritual authority, and imperial legacy, Alowen's nobility exudes an almost sacred aura—a house where the blood of emperors and saints still runs. Their influence is wielded not through conquest, but through diplomatic subtlety, theological interpretation, and ancestral prestige.

At the height of the Empire, Alowen was the heart of its ecclesiastical power, serving as keepers of the Faith’s most sacred relics and chroniclers of its divine history. Their archives, libraries, and oracles remain the most intact repositories of ancient knowledge in all of Solvar, untouched by the destruction of the Mourning Star Rebellion. While others bled and burned, Alowen endured, spared the worst of the chaos by both their strategic diplomacy and their holy reputation.

But survival bred complacency. Alowen has grown stagnant, held back by a deep-rooted reverence for tradition that borders on dogma. Though their lands are rich and their knowledge deep, the House is increasingly outmaneuvered by more adaptive, ruthless powers. Their once-revered sermons now fall on ears more eager for action than scripture, and their rituals—beautiful though they are—do little to answer the rising threat of divine unrest and political upheaval.

Internally, the House is beginning to fracture. On one side are the Preservers, proud traditionalists who cling to ceremony, hierarchy, and ancient rites. To them, Alowen’s purpose is to guard the old ways, to resist the corruption of novelty, and to act as the last beacon of imperial grace. On the other side are the Reformists—younger nobles, scholars, and hidden sorcerers—who believe that Alowen must evolve or perish. They see in their ancient scrolls not history, but weapons: forgotten magics, suppressed prophecies, and forbidden rites that could secure their supremacy over the other great houses. This quiet civil war of ideology has not yet spilled into open conflict, but the cracks are widening. Political rivalries, failed reforms, and veiled accusations of heresy threaten to ignite something darker. As Solvar teeters on the brink of another age of turmoil, House Alowen must choose—to entomb themselves in the past or reshape the future with the power buried beneath their sanctuaries.
