The SpellEyes of Korth

The SpellEyes of Korth are both the public and secret police of the city, effectively curtailing most crime within the walls of the Towering City. While the SpellEyes are reviled in some of the member states of Kortharc (especially Geldarc), they are considered by most in Korth to be heros. It is worth noting, however, that lower Korth exists largely because it is a part of the Korth region that is outside of the jurisdiction of the SpellEyes, allowing it the be both a hotbed of trade and of crime.

Structure

The SpellEyes are a surveillance and policing unit employed by the Council of Maji. In the city of Korth, all actions of the SpellEyes carry the force of law. Elsewhere in Kortharc, however, the spelleyes are considered to be a foreign spy network, and thus disallowed from action throughout the confederacy.

Culture

The SpellEye has a culture that strongly promotes dealing with threats first and considering the consequences later. Anyone who looks too closely at this culture realizes the many problems it has caused Korth throughout the years, stifling free speech and instilling fear. However, this culture has helped the Council of Maji to remain very powerfully in control of Korth.

Public Agenda

The SpellEyes have two missions: Keep the Peace, and Safeguard the use of Magic. While keeping the peace is officially their main objective, the SpellEyes tend to promote the use of magic at the expense of public safety.

Assets

The SpellEyes contain a scrying unit that is able to effectively survey the city of Korth, as well as a unit dedicating to the enforcement of magic restrictions throughout Korth, and the enforcement of laws throughout Korth. It is also the SpellEyes that maintain a wall of force around the city of Korth, and who effectively control the influx of visitors to Korth.

Military

In addition to having their own law enforcement troops, the SpellEyes have been known to call in Spellguard units to deal with especially chaotic or dangerous situations.
