Superbia, Demon Lord of Pride

Demon Lord of Pride Superbia

The leader of the seven Demon Lords, Superbia lords over his domain, The Conquered Lands.

Superbia’s domain, The Conquered Lands, is a desolate, lifeless expanse dominated by towering monuments to his own perfection. Unlike the other Demon Lords, Superbia allows no mortals to reside within his lands, for he deems them unworthy of sharing his presence. The land itself is bleak but orderly, with obsidian roads that spiral outward from his central fortress, The Pillar of Dominion, a structure so massive that it pierces the sky like a divine spear. The Eternal Spire is said to radiate with a magic so oppressive that it causes unbearable despair to any mortal who dares approach.

The only beings permitted to roam The Conquered Lands are the Arroganti, his constructs of pure pride and domination. These towering golems patrol the roads and borders, annihilating any mortal foolish enough to trespass. To Superbia, mortals are nothing more than insects—beneath his notice and deserving only of eradication if they dare enter his lands.

The Conquered Lands serve as a testament to Superbia’s philosophy of domination and superiority. Everything within it is perfectly ordered, immaculately maintained, and utterly devoid of life. It is not a place meant for mortals; it is a kingdom built solely for Superbia’s own grandeur, a reflection of his belief that no one but himself is worthy of such perfection.

Superbia’s influence over the world is absolute, as he stands at the pinnacle of the hierarchy of Demon Lords. The other six Demon Lords have no choice but to bow to him, for his power eclipses their own. Though they may resent him, they are bound by fear and obligation to serve him, knowing that defiance would result in swift and total annihilation.

To solidify his dominion over them, Superbia demands tithes from each of the Demon Lords. These offerings are not born of need but of purpose: they serve to reinforce the notion that Superbia is their superior. The exact nature of these tithes reflects the essence of the Demon Lord offering them:

  • Luxuria (Lust): Sends thralls drained of their life force, symbolizing her unending excess and the allure of her followers.
  • Invidia (Envy): Sends rare magical artifacts and treasures she covets, representing her jealousy and desire to possess what others have.
  • Ira (Wrath): Offers the weapons of her defeated enemies, showcasing her violent conquests.
  • Gula (Gluttony): Provides immense quantities of demonic energy harvested from the endless hunger of his followers.
  • Avaritia (Greed): Offers hoards of gold, gems, and riches fused with powerful enchantments, a reflection of her obsession with wealth.
  • Acedia (Sloth): Delivers the vitality drained from those who have fallen to his debilitating aura of lethargy.

These tithes are sent to The Pillar of Dominion, where Superbia hoards them—not out of any real necessity but to further bolster his image of supreme dominance. The act of offering these tithes is, to him, a ritualistic acknowledgment of his position as their master.

Superbia’s presence extends beyond The Conquered Lands through his control of the Demon Lords, shaping the world in his image of pride and superiority.

Ultimately, Superbia’s vision is to unite the world under his rule, not through coexistence but through domination. He sees himself as the ultimate arbiter of order, believing that individuality and free will are flaws that must be eradicated. Through the other Demon Lords, Superbia’s will seeps into every corner of the world, ensuring that all bow before him—willingly or not.

Superbia is a manifestation of Pride, and rules the world through the other Demon Lords as his subordinates.

Superbia, at his core, believes in a distorted version of unity—one that centers around the self. It thrives on the belief that everyone and everything in the world exists to serve the individual—*themselves*. In its ultimate form, Superbia’s power is the idea that everything is meant to be dominated and owned by one superior being: themselves.

Physical Description

Superbia embodies perfection and dominance, radiating an aura of absolute superiority. He appears as a tall, impossibly elegant elf with perfect proportions and otherworldly beauty. His face is symmetrical and flawless, yet cold and emotionless, as if sculpted from the very concept of perfection itself. His long black hair cascades down his back like a dark waterfall, framing his striking features.

Superbia’s most striking feature is his resplendent black armor, adorned with intricate gold trim that shifts and shines in the light, giving the impression that he is surrounded by his own divine radiance. The armor is sleek, angular, and without blemish, a reflection of his belief in his own untouchable superiority. His six black feathered wings spread wide behind him, their span enormous and overwhelming, casting a shadow that seems to envelop all who stand before him.

His seven horns, arranged in a crown-like formation, rise from his head, each one sleek and sharp. These horns are a constant reminder of his dominion over the other Demon Lords and his place at the pinnacle of The Shattered Realm's hierarchy.

A dark, shimmering magical aura surrounds Superbia at all times, suffusing the air with a sense of weight and inevitability. It feels as though the very world bends to his presence, and those who stand before him often find themselves unable to look away, overcome by the sheer force of his prideful majesty.

Lastly, Superbia’s tail is thin and whip-like, tipped with a sharp blade, symbolizing his ability to strike down those who dare challenge him.

Personality

Superbia is a master manipulator and an arrogant tyrant, but his demeanor is calm, collected, and eerily serene. He does not need to shout or rage to command respect; his mere presence inspires awe and fear. He genuinely believes that he is the pinnacle of existence, the ultimate being, and the rightful ruler of all creation.

He views others—be they mortals, demons, or even the other Demon Lords—as tools to serve his will. Superbia is an expert at feigning benevolence, portraying himself as a wise and just ruler who only desires to "unite" the world under his banner. In truth, his unity is one of submission, where all others are beneath him, their individuality erased in favor of his dominion.

Despite his arrogance, Superbia is not reckless. He is a strategic thinker, always several steps ahead of his enemies, and he rarely engages in direct conflict unless he is certain of his victory. He values order and control, believing that chaos and rebellion are signs of weakness.

Superbia’s pride is his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. While it grants him incredible power and authority, it also blinds him to his own flaws. He cannot conceive of failure or defeat, and his arrogance often leads him to underestimate those who oppose him.

Tenets of Faith

  1. All Must Bow to the Superior:
The faithful of Superbia believe that hierarchy is the natural order of the universe, with Superbia at the top. All beings must submit to those who are stronger, smarter, or more powerful than themselves. To resist is to defy the natural order.
  2. Perfection is the Ultimate Goal:
Followers are taught to strive for perfection in all things, for only through perfection can one prove their worth. Imperfection is weakness, and weakness has no place in Superbia’s world.
  3. Domination is Unity:
True unity can only be achieved when all individuals submit to a single, superior will. The faithful are encouraged to dominate others in their own lives, spreading Superbia’s doctrine of pride and control.
  4. Serve Superbia, for He is the Apex:
To serve Superbia is to serve the pinnacle of existence. Worship of any other god, demon, or ideal is forbidden, for they are all inferior to Superbia’s perfection.
