Gula, Demon Lord of Gluttony

One of the seven Demon Lords that rules over The Province of Consumption.

Gula rules over The Province of Consumption, a land cursed by a never-ending cycle of hunger and indulgence. It is a place where the soil is barren, but the crops that grow are grotesque, mutated, and overflowing with excess. Everything in Gula’s domain is exaggerated, a warped reflection of abundance that drives its inhabitants to madness. The land is covered with demonic farms that grow monstrous crops which never satisfy, leading to a perpetual cycle of eating that only fuels the hunger of the land's people. Those who live here are constantly starved for more, and they gorge themselves endlessly, hoping to fill the hollow emptiness inside them.

The Bull Pens, where massive demon bulls are raised, symbolize Gula’s endless hunger. These creatures are both a source of food and a representation of gluttony gone unchecked—no matter how much they eat, they can never be satisfied. They are a constant reminder to the people of Gula’s curse—the belief that no one can ever truly fill their cravings.

Gula’s cult is made up of people who are so consumed by their desires and addictions that they have forsaken all restraint. They believe they are entitled to all pleasures, all indulgences, and they demand them without hesitation. The followers of Gula are consumed by their compulsions, and their lives are defined by the need to consume—whether it be food, power, or wealth.

The Restaurant District within Gula’s domain serves as both a mockery of abundance and a symbol of his twisted ideal. In this district, patrons dine in perpetuity, endlessly devouring all that is placed before them, but never feeling full, never satisfied. The streets are filled with the smells of opulent feasts, and the endless supply of food is an intoxicating allure for anyone who wanders through. However, the moment a person dares to refuse more, they are swiftly cast out and abandoned, forced to live with their ever-hungry cravings.

Gula’s cult spreads the message that perpetual consumption is the true path to greatness. His followers infiltrate every corner of society, spreading his philosophy and enticing others to give in to their indulgence. Kingdoms that once prized discipline and moderation now crumble as greed and excess overtake them. Entire civilizations fall into chaos as their leaders, corrupted by Gula’s influence, demand ever more wealth and resources.

Though Gula's physical presence may be far from some of the other realms, his reach is vast. The desire for more—the need to possess everything—has become a consuming force in the world, and those who are seduced by his promises find themselves trapped in his endless hunger.

Gula is a manifestation of Gluttony, running a cult cursed by endless hunger.

Superbia turned moderation into indulgence, convincing the world that excess was a sign of power and worth. Gula's domain is built on the lie that to truly be "great," one must have more—more food, more power, more wealth—because they deserve it.

Physical Description

Gula’s appearance is both grotesque and terrifying, a direct reflection of his dominion over Gluttony and excess. His body is humanoid, but it is massive, bloated, and covered in loose, fleshy skin that constantly shifts and ripples. He can expand and morph his body at will, growing extra appendages, tendrils, or tooth-filled maws wherever needed. His form seems to distort and reshape as he moves, an ever-changing mass of flesh, hunger, and insatiable desire.

Around his head is a sprawling, pulsating mane of tentacles that writhes constantly, a disturbing reminder of the all-consuming nature of his power. These tentacles end in mouths, each one hungry for whatever it can devour. His body exudes an aura of repulsiveness and indulgence at the same time, as if his form itself is a manifestation of his curse—endless hunger.

Gula’s face is a large, monstrous maw, with glowing, beady eyes that are almost hidden by the mass of flesh that surrounds them. His mouth, however, is always open, filled with rows upon rows of jagged teeth, and his voice, when he speaks, echoes like the groans of a starving beast. At times, his form may appear to "swallow" portions of the land itself—his power is that of consumption in its purest form.

When he moves, Gula’s body ripples and undulates, as if the flesh of his form is always shifting to satisfy some new craving. His presence is nauseating, and the air around him is thick with the scent of decay, overindulgence, and fetid hunger.

Personality

Gula embodies the sin of Gluttony, not merely as a desire to consume, but as a compulsive need to possess more, to always hunger for more, regardless of how much is already consumed. His nature is that of excess, a belief that there is never enough and that to be truly great, one must constantly pursue indulgence without restraint. Where most see moderation as a virtue, Gula has twisted this into the belief that abundance is power, and true greatness is measured by the ability to consume, collect, and hoard as much as possible.

He is a manipulative and insidious demon lord, weaving lies of self-worth and greatness through indulgence. He convinces those who fall under his sway that they are entitled to more—more food, more wealth, more power—because they deserve it. He speaks of a world where nothing is denied, where every craving is satisfied and every whim fulfilled. His followers are constantly hungry, always striving for greater indulgence, and Gula feeds off their insatiable desires, growing stronger as they feed his cult’s addiction to excess.

Despite his overwhelming hunger, Gula does not seem to experience true satisfaction. He is cursed to constantly hunger, and his desire can never be filled. This eternal emptiness within him drives his actions—he manipulates others into believing that they too can achieve contentment through endless consumption, but they are just as doomed as he is.

In his interactions, Gula is both seductive and repulsive. He offers the promise of satisfaction and fulfillment, only to leave his followers hungrier and more desperate than before. His charm is in the way he makes people believe they are entitled to everything, convincing them that they are worthy of indulgence.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Consume to Grow – True greatness is measured by one’s ability to consume. Every moment, every interaction, every opportunity should be seized to take more. To hoard is to ascend.
  2. Satisfaction is a LieContentment is an illusion. No amount of indulgence will ever truly satisfy. The hunger never ends, and the only way to feel powerful is to constantly chase the next indulgence.
  3. Entitlement to Excess – Every being is born deserving of the riches of the world. Everyone is entitled to their own portion of the universe’s bounty, and those who claim to have more are simply showing their superiority.
  4. More is Never Enough – There is no such thing as too much. Whether it be food, power, or wealth, always strive for more. Lack is a sign of weakness, and only those who take everything they can find are truly worthy.
  5. Indulgence is Divine – Every desire, no matter how selfish, should be indulged. If you want something, take it. If you crave something, consume it. Every craving is a holy call, and fulfilling it is the highest form of worship.
  6. Swallow the Weak – The weak exist to be consumed, absorbed, and made part of something greater. Survival of the fittest is the law. Those who cannot satiate their hunger are to be devoured by the strong.
