Chronomancy Madness  

Short Term Madness – 1d10 minutes

Roll a d100

01-20 – character cannot remember their age or when they were born (details of birth are hazy at best)

21-30 – character becomes suffers a spell of short term amnesia, unable to recognize where they are, who they are traveling with, or why they are journeying

31-40 – character experiences intense dejavu for the duration, convinced to the verge of paranoia that have experienced this moment before

41-50 – the character experiences vivid hallucinations from their past, suffering Disadvantage on all Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Wisdom Saving Throws for the duration

51-60 – the character retreats into their darkest memories and becomes Paralyzed for the duration

61-70 – the character's worst fears come to life before their eyes and they are Frightened for the duration

71-75 – the character begins to tremor and suffers Disadvantage on Athletics, Acrobatics, Stealth, and Sleight of Hands checks

76-80 – the character is only capable of thinking out loud

81-90 – the character sees the same face on everyone around them, as though they belong to a sea of clones

91-100 – the character falls unconscious and dreams of themselves in a cult of Chronomancers, performing rituals they have never seen or heard of

 

Long Term Madness – 1d10 x 10 hours

Roll a d100

01-10 – the character suffers a spell of long term madness, unable to remember anything before the madness took affect

11-20 – the character suffers from a Forward Timewind – time passes twice as fast for them, for the duration

21-30 – the character suffers from a Converse Timewind – time passes two times slower for them, for the duration

31-40 – the character is Blinded (50%) or Deafened (50%)

41-45 – the character is only able to speak in an Ancient Gnomish dialect for the duration

46-55 – the character believes they are guilty of a heinous crime and will do anything they can to keep it a secret

56-65 – the character believes they have been body swapped with the first person they see

66-75 – the character sees bugs crawl out of other creature's mouths whenever they speak and become Frightened (only when they are witnessing speech)

76-85 – the character tastes ash, char, and burn in everything they eat, except for raw meat and believes all food not killed within an hour of consuming is Poisoned

86-90 – the character is paranoid and will fiercely interrogate anyone who tries to ask them questions about themselves, or get to know them better

91-95 – the character is overcome with the urges of a pyromaniac

96-100 – the character thinks they are under the effects of a Reverse Aging potion that has transformed them into a young child

 

Indefinite Madness – a permanent new character flaw, only curable by Greater Restoration

Roll a d100

01-15 - “I will do anything to learn the darkest secrets of Chronomancy”

16-25 - “I am the smartest and most amazing person I know, and would make the perfect coven/cult leader. All I need to find are some followers.”

26-30 - “I believe a powerful enemy is hunting me and will stop at nothing until I am apprehended”

31-35 - “What should make me angry makes me laugh, and what should make me laugh, enrages me”

36-45 - “I am slowly forgetting the details of my life and one day will not even remember my own name.”

46-50 - “I am convinced that I am the only thing in this world that truly exists. Everything around me is a simulation/illusion”

51-55 - “I receive divine messages from a powerful deity. I believe that I am their chosen prophet”

56-70 - “I believe I am cursed with lycanthropy”

71-80 – The madness causes you forget something important to you. Choose a skill that you are Proficient in. Until the madness is cured, you are no longer Proficient in this skill

81-85 – You have trigger words that cause you to laugh hysterically, cry uncontrollably, and become inexplicably mad. They change every day.

86-95 – “I have a special friend that only I can see. They tell me how to think, feel, and act.”

96-100 - “I am developing my own code of communication, because I trust no one and am being watched at all times”
