Thessalia, Goddess of Prophecies Character in The Shattered Lands | World Anvil

Thessalia, Goddess of Prophecies

Thessalia, Goddess of Prophecies is a Lawful Neutral Goddess in the Pantheon of Perfection. Thessalia believes perfection is found by reading or anticipation hte future, planning for the possibilities and then reaching perfection by perfectly working through the plans created with plenty of time. Like many elven deities very few short lives races find a place as her follower as their short lives do not allow for the meticulous preparation required to achieve perfection. Thessalia herself, actually creates many of the prophecies preached by her followers. She uses her celestial helpers to gather readings on the stars, birth charts of possible people of interest, and other divination methods. Thessalia is then able to conclude a likely outcome and creates a prophecy accordingly. Once she has created a prophecy she passes it either to someone who pushes the likelyhood even further into the realm of reality or she passes it to a follower to hide it from the eyes that could destroy everything with it's knowledge.

Thessalia is present in most temples of perfection and also has a plethora of churches dedicated to her. Look into lands with high elven populations and you will likely find her church in every single town with a population more than a few thousand. She has two types of churches, one where her followers are normal preachers bringing the prophecies of glory or destruction; the other one has clerics who take a vow of silence and have the solemn duty of protecting prophecies that could spell doom for civilizations or even the world if they got in the wrong hands.
