Govalydd, Deity of the Clan

Govalydd, Deity of the Clan is a lawful good deity of the Pantheon of Society. Govalydd is the symbol of dedication to ones kin, however unlike some other deities, Govalydd believe you choose your kin. He often encourages young folks to search for their clan and make a home with them, but once you have dedicated yourself to your clan, betrayal is sacrilege. They would rather you sacrifice yourself for you clan, then betray them. Govalydd is very common among the dwarves though rarely as a primary deity, rather as a secondary deity within most dwarven clans. Another unique feature of Govalydd are their clerics. When someone dedicates themselves to Govalydd there are two main roles. The mentors and the students of the clan.
The mentors are those who are already part of a clan. Most large clans who have Govalydd as a primary or secondary deity have a few clerics among their ranks to be mentors in the church of Govalydd. Their jobs are to help those who have not chosen a clan to choose a clan, and preferably to bring them into their own clan, but it is frowned upon to be forceful, rather expected to simply give a student a taste of what their clan is like and be grand enough to attract new members. Due to this, many larger clans will have dozens of mentor clerics to encourage further growth.
The students are those without a clan. Some folks looking for a clan will dedicate themselves to Govalydd in the hopes that they will help them find a new clan. Once a student has found a clan they are welcome to either shed the cloth and fill a different role in their clan or rise to become a mentor, though a clan will usually require some time in the clan to prove themselves before they are allowed to represent the clan as a mentor.

Govalydd is present in most temples of society. Govalydd has no churches as he demands his clerics be educators and open schools and universities open to all. Though joining a clan in his schools and universities is strongly encouraged, it is not required and welcomes all who at least do not practice anathemas of Govalydd. The most famous university is the University of Clans which can be found in the city of Zarar of Zaram.
