Creation of the Material Plane
At some point the gods grew weary of their existence in the outer planes and they longed for new experiences. A conclave of the gods was called and after much debate it was decided that Aprisca, Septeria and Feberia would be entrusted to craft a new plane; the material plane.
Aprisca would forge the earth of the plane where most creatures would walk. Feberia would craft oceans to surround the lands and fill them with life. And finally Septeria bestow the breath of life onto the skies over both the lands and the seas.
The three goddesses set to work, but Feberia, ever devious, approached Aprisca and convinced her that Aprisca’s task was the hardest of all, and that she deserved to be helped. Eventually Feberia persuaded Aprisca to accept help from Feberia’s twin brother Decius.
Decius came to Aprisca and explained that she should work on the surface of the world, where everything would walk in the light and be seen by the gods, the task most worthy of praise. He would take it on himself to forge the depths, the foundations of the world that Aprisca’s great works would rest on.
Taken by Decius’ flattery, Aprisca eagerly agreed and sent Decius away to work. And work Decius did, he instilled great fault lines, invisible to the passing glance, but eventually leading to devastating earthquakes.
He hid great veins of gemstones and minerals in the earth, but distributed them unevenly, eventually leading to wars among the mortals.
Finally he delved deeper and with great patience he crafted the underdark, and with the help of his sister he filled it with many terrible creatures.
Feberia used the distractions her brother provided to hide away monsters of her own in her oceans, Aboleths, Krakens and Leviathans were hidden in the deepest depths, to rise and assault the mortals when she deemed the time ready.
When the three goddesses reported back to the council of gods and presented their works, every deity was impressed and they all agreed to send some of their essence into this new plane as a gift, divine materials for the mortals to use.
As the final step, Julya gave life to the races of mortal beings, the beasts, birds, plants, all living things that those who crafted the material plane had given form but not yet life.
