Rickard lost his family in the ash, and his reason to live. He found it again with the families on the road, the cries of babies choking on ash, the staggered footsteps of the elderly... this would be his new cause. When he arrived in Heute he was horrified to discover how the refugees were treated and he grew to loathe the green emblazoned leather armor of the Van Myr Peacekeepers. Beaten and left for dead more than once, this former farmer never abandoned his hope to get these people to a better world.
In Hampsterdam Rickard sees the past threatening to repeat, he runs a tavern called 'The Liberty' near the edge of the settlement where many of the local workers meet to vent their frustrations and plan on how to make things better.
