Joey the Sorcadin
BACKGROUND
JOEY THE SORCADIN is the apprentice of a famous Roi fainéan of the Avacii Kingdom. Prior to the WAXWING KABOOM JtS master "Logan" started having strange catatonic episodes where he would be completely unreasonable for minutes at a time and awake suddenly and give strange, cryptic sayings.
As time progressed and we got closer and closer to the BOOM the catatonic episodes would last for hours or even days. JtS was solely responsible for caring for him as well as doing most of his duties - largely political dealings within the town, working with merchants, or acting on behalf of minor city council members. JtS made it seems like it was his training but he mostly covering for his wolverine master.
After the KABOOM JtS did what he could to stay with the refugees but eventually sort of devolved into some type of do-gooder wanderer. Staring blankly into the campfire on any given night he runs through a million different cryptic sayings that Wolverine would scream as he seized on his bed, slowly seeing the connection and the terrifying foresight of it all.
AFTER THE FALL
The agents of the Roi fainéant were spread far and wide, but their cells were isolated, shield from exposure by webs of contacts, dead drops, and handlers. With Avacii fallen the network went silent, but it wasn't long before signs and symbols began appearing in Heute - each with a simple demand "WEST." Whose hand now pulled the strings of the Roi it could not be said, and you found no contact beyond a disaffected trainee, dying of Ashrot, who claimed to have seen his trainers butchered in the light of the first flame from Waxwing.
The ravings of your late master provide even less succor - it seems in the pall of Waxwing's shadow man no longer hides his madness, on each corner a tale of apocalyptic doom, in each crowded tavern a preacher promising salvation. No wisdom to be found here, not in the crowd, not in the ash.
BENEATH THE ASH
Kind words and acclaim do little to quell your master's words, here - a world away from his ashen grave - the words echo even stronger, the path of his madness becoming more lucid in the light of what befell this lost world.
