The SEAM

Within the cosmology of the seven spheres, there exists a space that lay between the planes and realms of existence. This place is called the SEAM. It is commonly described as an empty, black void with nothing in it, simply a medium that acts as a boundary between the various planes and realms. Others, particularly those who are involved in aetherial travel, know of the SEAM as a place where dark beings lay waiting and hungry for foolish explorers and spellcasters who mistepped through the planes and found themselves unwittingly within the SEAM.   It is understood that there do exist beings within the SEAM. Few can agree what these beings are: some call them demons, others refer to them as ancient gods. A common term one hears in aetherports refers to the beings of the SEAM as Pitch Fiends, though where the name originates from is anybody's guess. What is agreed on is that the beings that exist within the SEAM are cunning, cruel, and never to be trusted.   Know Pitch Fiends passed down through stories and tales include the following:
Kull, The Laughing Grimace, who once gifted its eyes to a blind painter, only for the painter to discover that the eyes forced upon him visions of the past and future, tormenting and eventually leading to his death.
Blod, The Chittering Sneer. Blod is whispered of in tales of gruesome horror, a being that raises the dead into twisted abominations.
Marrow, Who is Splayed. Marrow is said to herald times of rampant savage banditry. There exist cults to Marrow who are said to split open their victims and leave them open-chested in village centers.
Sorgh, The Weeping Laceration. A being commonly attributed to unsolved gruesome murders. It is said that Sorgh appears to those who seek bloody revenge, gifting cruel weapons too wretched to describe.
Gouge, With Fetid Adoration. Stories tell of a demon slayer who sought to slay the Pitch Fiend known as Gouge. Some stories tell of his success over the fiend, how the slayer used holy light and ardor to erase Gouge from the SEAM. Other stories tell how the slayer was corrupted by Gouge, who fed on the slayer's ego and eventually enthralled the slayer into a horrid champion of perverse battle.
Raize, The Vacant Grin. It is said that Raize was slain by the the legendary sword-priest of the Divine Empire, Gillia Kor'zlana. It is said that the mountains of the Buried Swords found in the Deepview Peninsula are the hilts of swords carried by Raize their blades thrust into the earth by Gillia when she slew Raize during the Deicidium.
