Raleigh McCarthy Sugawara is the 5th son of Lord Ralphy McCarthy and Lady Murasaki Tamashiro. Raleigh's father was a Banner Lord of the Sugawara Clan, of distant relation to them. When Raleigh was a young man, he was sent to train under the Sugawaras to further his understanding of the sword under Master Matthew París. It was under the harsh teaching of Master París that Raleigh developed a life-long passion for mastering the sword and becoming a King of Swords.
