The Place of Healing

The Place of Healing, or the Aloveris, was one of the buildings of the Inner Castle Complex, along with the palace, the arena, the courtroom, trainee barracks, and the cathedral. At the time of Tywell III, it was run by Dr. Erovus Azariel, a renowned healer from Islandiya. The doctor, like most Islandiyans, had blond hair and blue eyes, and pale skin. He was a very scientific man, but an open-minded one, who was always ready to consider the possibility of new diseases. These qualities made him the perfect candidate to run the Aloveris.   The Aloveris was the main healing centre in the Castle, and accepted everyone, from a peasant with a stomachache, to a soldier missing all four of his limbs. In times of war, a heavy guard was kept on the building at all times, as enemies had tried to destroy it several times before, in an effort to stop the wounded soldiers from recovering.   The Aloveris had a staff of about fifty, plus Doctor Azariel, and was about the size of the cathedral. Multiple floors had been included when it was constructed in 52 Third Age, as well as an attic and a basement. There was a tower attached to it by a passageway, which was used as a dormitory for some of the staff who didn't return home after their shifts, whether day or night.   Rusalye Würani was kept there after a battle with Gu B'omarrin Kashar before he was transferred to the Castle when the doctor decided his head wound had healed enough. Tywell's leg wound was also treated there after he stopped an enslavement attempt in the North of Tílunur. When King Teranik II was close to death, it was here that he spoke his last words to his three sons (Arnmor, Dylor, and Tywell).
