A Mysterious Cave

Session 7

We approached the cave entrance and saw, for the first time, a large black cat (either some kind of puma or perhaps a panther).   The cat entered the cave just ahead of us and we followed it in just in time to see it climb up and disappear through a hole in the ceiling of the first chamber.   The inside of the cave appeared to be man-made. We investigated it.   Varis, during the investigation, touched some water flowing down one of the walls and somehow appears to have alerted a large number of rats to our presence.   The rats attacked us and were joined by several snakes.   Thrunk was hurt in the exchange.   Brynn tried to attack the snakes, but missed. Then he accidentally healed some of Thrunk’s damage.   After the enemies were defeated, we found some black armor, which was later identified to be Armor of Donning, which Varis took as his own.   Thrunk then kicked in a doorway leading to a hallway and an intersection with a cross-hallway.   Thrunk ran down the second hallway, splitting the party, and got in a fight with some more rats.   Brynn ran after him and tried to help, but was attacked by the rats before he could do anything. He was knocked unconscious.   The rest of the party then joined the fight and defeated the rats.   Carric stabilized Brynn and Drew set off a poison trap while trying to get through another door at the other end of the hallway.   After being poisoned in the face, she too went down.   Once everybody was again not dying, the party located a stalagmite that was some sort of mechanism for opening the door. We turned it and found another small chamber.   Inside there were clues about how to progress through the dungeon and several sandbags. We took the sandbags.   Putting some of them on a pedestal opened a treasure room. Inside, we found a quiver of arrows, a tattered cloak, a scepter and a crown.
