The Imperial Fleet arrives to find a system in disarray. Local separatist warlords openly engage in hostilities with the Imperium; their true masters may be aligned to the Dark Gods. Clandestine warfare breaks out on the system’s outskirts; the unpredictable nature of the greenskin hinders Imperial progress. Other secessionist conflicts suggest a hidden Xenos hand behind the curtain. An ancient horror arises from a long forgotten tomb.
The Start of A Gruelling War
After the arrival of the Rogue Trader fleet and the Masser relay incident, a combined strike force comprising members of the Dark Angels and Space Wolves chapters embarked on a comprehensive scouting and exploratory expedition throughout the entire Seshat system. Their mission was to secure the system and eliminate any potential threats to Imperial rule.
Simultaneously, Rogue Trader agents engaged in diplomatic and trade negotiations with the local noble houses, aiming to exploit the newfound system for financial gain. Initial plans were devised to map a semi-stable warp route to the Imperium Nihilus, with the assistance of a modified Widowmaker-class Destroyer named "the Crozier of Saint Franklin." This vessel was tasked with charting the passage.
The Agents of the Imperium have not arrived in a unified system; the various noble houses appear to be pursuing their own agendas. Astartes reconnaissance squads have been targeted by military forces under the command of House Hask, although the true loyalties of these forces have yet to be fully determined. As the reconnaissance missions progressed, hostile encounters ensued with traitor forces from both the Iron Warriors and Thousand Sons. Although these forces appeared to be loosely aligned, their ultimate motives remained unknown.
Amidst the enigmatic Moons of Hermeaus, a clandestine dance unfolds as Dark Angel forces embark on their own covert missions. It is amidst these distant moons that relentless Ork raiding parties emerge from the shadows, threatening to disrupt the carefully laid plans of the Dark Angels. This is a pattern that is slowly repeating itslef throughout the system, and Imperial forces are slow to react to the panicked rumours of Ork sightings. On Seshat Prime, the news of Ork sightings has sparked anxiety and fear among rural communities. On the mysterious world of Sugrarth, a sense of unease has settled upon the land.
Furthermore, shortly after diplomatic negotiations commenced with the local nobility, several settlements in the Eastern provinces of Seshat Prime erupted in open rebellion. The swiftness, timing, and organized nature of these uprisings arouse suspicion. Some Inquisitorial representatives posit that these rebellions may be instigated by an unidentified faction. The rebels do not conform to the typical characteristics of Chaos or Genestealer cults, and the rhetoric of their leaders hints at a connection to the nascent Tau Empire.
Adding further confusion to this anarchic morass of conflicting goals, dubious alliances, and plain babarism, Space Wolf scouts have confirmed the presence of Necron forces on the world of Sugrarth. These souless horrors have since then struck out across the entire Seshat system seemingly at random against both Imperial and Chaos forces. In the last few weeks the strength and frequency of these attacks have increased with a seeming frantic urgency behind them. The reason for this is unknown but strange stirrings on both Sugrarth and on the dead world of Thanides cause great concern for Loyalist and Traitor forces alike.
