The Start of a Crucial Investigation
At the behest of the Crusade Indomitus, a Rogue Trader Fleet led by House Cape has been sent to investigate garbled astropathic transmissions from the once-believed lost Seshat system. Upon arriving in the system, it was discovered that, far from being destroyed, the system was, at least somewhat stable and seemingly recovering from the horrors wrought by the opening of the Great Rift.
Reactions to the arrival of the exploratory fleet from the local nobility and ruling class have been mixed, and negotiations to bring the system back into the fold of the Imperium have begun. Fleet navigators believe that there may be a semi-stable route through to the Imperium Nihlus from this system, making it of paramount importance for any future military and economic activities.
The message that drew the fleet here appears to have originated from the system's sole astropathic relay, found on the primary moon of Seshat Prime, Masser. The relay has not been manned since the calamitous opening of the Great Rift nearly a century ago.
Secretive Steps
If the Masser Relay was truly dead, then what sent out the transmissions? At the behest of Strontius Cape, a small task force of operatives has been assembled to investigate the relay. Cape has emphasised the importance of "plausible deniability" in this mission. This means that once the task force is deployed and on the ground, they will not have access to the usual resources and support from the wider fleet. This approach is intended to maintain secrecy and ensure that the operation remains covert and independent.
With their limited resources, the task force will face the daunting challenge of delving into the mysteries surrounding the Masser Relay. Their success will depend on their ingenuity, resourcefulness, and ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances as they navigate the unknown. The stakes are high, as the truth they uncover could have far-reaching implications for the wider fleet and the fate of their mission.
