Gideon the Old – God of Time

Gideon is the oldest and most powerful God in the Greenwold. It was Gideon who raised up his friends to Godhood. It was Gideon who brought them through the endless astral space. It was Gideon who watched world after world unfold before him. It was Gideon who watched the gods of each world squabble and fight and ultimately corrupt their creations.
It was Gideon who had lived a hundred thousand lives by the time he became a God.
He is the most reclusive of the Gods - and possibly the most misunderstood.
Some see him as the force of order and clarity. Without time, everything would happen all at once and be confusing. He is the knowledge of all things, and the order by which it will unfold.
Some see him as the embodiment of wisdom and perspective. Do we not, in our elder age, see the world more clearly?
While those things are true, the deeper truth of Gideon is more tragic. He is the god of the inevitable collapse of all things. In time, the mountain crumbles to the sea. In time, the promise of youth becomes the regret of age. In time, the heroic rebellion bringing freedom to all people becomes just another repressive empire, itself to be torn down.
Gideon is not a happy god, and he really had hoped the Greenwold would be - somehow - different.

Clergy

All Clergy of Gideon must meet several criteria, from the lowest acolyte to the high preist. *Must be past Middle Age by Cultural Standard *Must have no children younger than adulthood *Must have lived a full life

Historians

Domain of Knowledge The Historians focus on recording history as it happens - be it in as someone in the field experiencing it, or as a scribe in a temple collating the various reports of field clerics. This order works closely with the clergy of Andgyt the Studious – Goddess of Lore . The emblem of the Historians is the Ouroboros.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Members of his faith typically wear the colors of Black and Purple. The emblem of the religion is four upright hashmarks cut through with a diagonal hashmark, as used in primitive calendars. Some of the wealthier temples use a stylized clock face of one vertical line and one shorter diagonal line.

Tenets of Faith

*This too Shall Pass - All things, be they good or bad, will pass. Nothing, absolutely nothing lasts forever.
*Construct the future - Be ever mindful that what you do today builds the foundations of tomorrow. You cannot hope for better days if you do nothing to obtain them.
*The Long Game - Be not rash in your actions. Plan for the future and learn from the past.
