Andgyt the Studious – Goddess of Lore

Andgyt is the youngest major deity in the Greenwold - and was one of the most active on the material plane. Even after the withdrawal of the gods, her communications with the clergy of her small temples never slowed. A voracious reader and consumer of stories and lore, she is one of the more popular deities.   Lunae may be the mistress of magic, but her traditionalist approach leaves Andgyt often bored - resulting in an almost adolescents rebellion and pushing of boundaries. All other manner of magical research draw her interest.   While called 'The Studious' in the old form, many modernist clerics call her the Polymath, for she never ceases in desiring new information, new stories, new lore, new theories.   History delights her.   Research tantalizes her.   Song entertains her.   Drama transfixes her.   Secrets enthrall her.   As such, Andgyt is worshipped by bards, actors, scholars, researchers, writers and information brokers.

Clergy

The clergy of Andgyt come from all walks of life and all races - with a caveat. In order to be Ordained in the temple, an aspirant must be functionally literate in at least two languages. This does create a somewhat classist barrier to the lower classes. This barrier is somewhat offset by tutoring available in the temples.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The emblem of the Temple of Andgyt is a set of three simple rectangles atop one another, representing a stack of books. The colors of this temple are purple and blue. A cleric of Andgyt would never be caught dead without a blank scroll or notebook and a writing device at hand.

Tenets of Faith

*Gather Knowledge - Without new knowledge, the world crystalizes into stasis. Always strive for new information.   *Educate freely - Do not withhold education from others. Delight in teaching in all forms.   *Hide what must be hidden - Show wisdom, for knowledge is power, and some power ought not be released.
